An Album a Day Keeps the Doctor Away #14: Silverchair - Freak Show

Happy day before Monday, nerds. Today I’ve been listening to album 292: Freak Show by Silverchair.

Silverchair // Freak Show

Okay so thing is, for my money, the best Sliverchair record is Neon Ballroom. And in my eyes the fact that the first record and now this one both don’t really do it for me makes perfect sense. Frogstomp is too one note. I’ve never been much of a fan of straight up grunge. And Freak Show too, is a bit too one note for me. Ah one note is harsh. Half and half, I should say. Slave, Freak, Lie to Me, Learn to Hate, Roses, and Nobody Came all have very good, THICC-CUT, CHUNKY-BOI RIFFS and that’s all well and good. But the other, softer songs are all a bit too soft and meh and bland for me. I can see how some of these softer cuts evolved into songs like Emotion Sickness, or Ana’s Song, or Miss You Love, but they're just not there enough yet on Freak Show for me. But Freak is a certified classic track so definitely still listen to that one if you’ve never.
