An Album a Day Keeps the Doctor Away #12: The Receiving End of Sirens - The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi

Friday more like Fri—yeah I got nothing. Today is album number 91: The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi by The Receiving End of Sirens; the follow up to one of the best debut records to ever drop: Between the Heart & the Synapse.

The Receiving End of Sirens // The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi

Okay straight up I prefer this one less to Between the Heart… but it’s not bad. It’s more straight forward than album one. It’s definitely still got that Circa Survive-y post-hardcore feel to it. Definitely still got that post rock bleepy bloopy twinkle all over it. What it doesn’t have is all those little cool memorable parts in nearly every song that Between the Heart & the Synapse has. Let me explain:

All those parts are so unique and memorable and I could just listen to on repeat forever. I can’t really do that with anything on The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi; an album that is still very much TREOS, but lacks all those fun little things that just make the first album. Stay Small, The Heir of Empty Breath, and Oubliette (Disappear) are all absolutely brilliant though and you should definitely listen to those three tracks.
