The World Is a Beautiful Place // Between Bodies |
Our post and indie rock emo parents The World is a Beautiful
Place put out this collab record with spoken wordsmith Chris Zizzamia a hot
minute ago. I purchased it on bandcamp quite some time ago and never listened
to it. So here I am. Listening to it.
Now let me just start with the fact that
the best track they did with Mr Chris Zizzamia is not even on this EP, but I’m
counting it here because it made me cry. Go listen to A Note From the Author February 1st to the Author January 1st.
And when you’re done that come back and try and listen to Between Bodies.
I
like some of the tracks here but it’s kind of a lot to get through. A lot to
get through in both content and delivery as old mate sounds like he’s gonna cry
a lot, and the instrumentals are a little slow, to suit the prose of Chris
Zizzamia. But it’s nice. And there’s some beautiful imagery and stories and
phrases and writing on this record. Particularly Precipice, which is a verbose, spoken word Redshift by Enter Shikari:
We’re made up of the same stuff as stars. We are stardust and when we run out of hydrogen and die we will become giants, or super giants, or supernovas and explode.
That’s paraphrased of course, but
I think it’s a very nice thought. If you too, like very nice thoughts and
musings set to post rock, check this out.
