New Found Glory // Coming Home |
Fun fact: I’ve never listened to a New Found Glory album and I don’t think Ocean Avenue is all that great. DEFEND POP PUNK NOW LOSERS. That being said, one of these things has changed today. And it definitely wasn't me falling in love with Ocean Avenue. So, uhhhh, this New Found Glory album isn’t great. But boy it had me in the first track. Oxygen had me thinking this was gonna be a solid pop punk album. Nooooope! Track two I was like okay this is less good than track one maybe the next track will pick back up but it just kept getting duller and duller. Make Your Move was the first point at which I wanted to snap the disc in half and that feeling returned with a vengeance at Familiar Landscapes. See some of the dull tracks are a little energetic which is nice but to make matters worse, they fuckin threw ploddy songs on this bitch; On My Mind, the afformentioned Make Your Move, fucking Boulders?! Why! Pop punk is meant to be fun and irreverent. There are like five good songs on this thing and only four of those are notable. Oxygen, When I Die, It’s Not Your Fault, and Connected. More than half this album is like Radiohead levels of bland flavourless pudding. And I looked into this album, and have seen people out here being like yo best NFG record 4 realsies. WHAT?! Surely not. If this is their best album then I take the horror of nonbeing over ever having to listen to another one.
