Four Haiku

Four haiku I've written at various points over the last few years.

(Skipping Class)
Pavement stained by mould
Stinging rain drops from slate skies
"Off to class in ten?"

(21st Century Tumbleweeds)
Warm dirty winds blow
Plastic bags through scorched bush-lands
Modern tumbleweeds

(Old Red Converse)
Old red converse left
Standing empty on cracked tiles
Painting of progress

(Cannibalism)
To eat one's own feet
Infinite ouroboros?
Cannibalism

Skipping Class I wrote for a uni assessment piece in semester two of 2016.

21st Century Tumbleweeds I wrote after a walk I took one day in 2017, on which I saw a plastic bag tumbling through some old scorched out bush-lands by my house.

Old Red Converse I wrote in early 2018; an ekphrastic poem of sorts stemming from a piece of art my partner drew.

Cannibalism I wrote on the first of April, 2018; again an ekphrastic poem, questioning the meaning behind a painting I saw on a trip to the Queensland Art Gallery.

This is the Cannibalism painting.
